The Absolution Deck
David Carson inspired skateboard Deck
For this assignment, I was given a famous designer and a word describing an emotion picked randomly out of a hat. With these random prompts, I was tasked with designing a skateboard deck in the style of the famous designer while having the word describing an emotion be the focal point on the deck. The designer I picked out of the hat was the “Godfather of Grunge”, David Carson. The word I ended up picking was “absolution”, which means the formal release from guilt, obligation, or punishment. Representing the word was also heavily recommended and put into practice while I designed this skateboard deck.

The Enraged Deck
Paula Scher inspired skateboard Deck
Expanding from the David Carson-inspired skateboard deck, I wanted to showcase another designer who isn’t afraid to break or bend the rules to create designs. Paula Scher was the first to come to mind. To showcase rage, I decided to use the Public Theatre Collection as my main primary point of departure, and having a child screaming to emphasize the visceralness of childlike rage.
